Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Paris (ENSMP) / Association pour la recherche et le développement des méthodes et processus industriels (ARMINES)

ARMINES will be represented in i-Treasures project by the Robotics Laboratory (CAOR) of ENSMP. The latter is one of the most prestigious and selective "Grande Ecole" in the French system of Education, which has formed lots of current CEO of large companies such as Renault, Airbus, PSA, Lafarge, Sagem, Thalès, Total etc.

The Robotics Lab (CAOR) has been conducting many research projects in the field of Intelligent Transport Systems, particularly in driving assistance, since 1990, including EU projects REACT and COM2REACT. CAOR has been 3 times winner of the national ANVAR innovation competition, and about 10 start-up were founded by researchers or students from CAOR. CAOR is the leader of the Industrial Chair ENSMP – PSA Peugeot Citroen, conducting research in virtual reality and gesture analysis and recognition aspects for the human robot-collaboration. CAOR is also involved in a number of projects for the medical rehabilitation of hand functions using gesture recognition and virtual reality technologies.

ARMINES is a non-profit organization created in accordance with the 1901 law and covered by the law of 18 April 2006, enabling public higher educational and research establishments to entrust their contractual research activities to private organizations.

ARMINES has a contract-based relationship with its partner schools, which include the network of "Grandes Ecoles" (engineering schools) overseen by the French Department of Industry (Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Paris - ENSMP etc.). ARMINES is involved with the laboratories of other "Grandes Ecoles" in France. In terms of EU contracts, the 7th Framework Programme came on-stream during 2008, with 27 new contracts registered over the year for a total of €5.3 million. As of
early 2009, 72 European contracts are active and ARMINES is coordinating 20 consortia.
